Dutch Meadows Landscaping put up some boulders on the south side of the house. You know what they say Lake, "girls do all the work." Mike is on the back hoe telling the girls what to do physically,
they handled it just fine. Below we are enjoying a view of a deer in our back yard.
The siding has been here for some time. We were excited to see it come but the rain has kept the guys from much progress. We are so ready to wrap it all up so we can enjoy being outside on our own yard.Memorial Day weekend we got busy getting the yard ready to seed. It was more work than we anticipated but we actually sewed grass on Tuesday following Memorial Day and had green grass 6 days later. We didn't get the straw on the whole yard due to our welcoming rain fall so we finished it up a few days later.
I didn't know when I woke up that morning that I would be stacking a hay rack in a cattle lot in the heat of the day. I could have come up with some good excuse. Yeah well I put up with mice, sweat and scratchy straw on bare legs with no gloves and did I mention in the heat of the day...we were so done by the time we came inside. I will never trade those guys that do this for a living. I will mow cemetery, drive combine, and help in the seed shed enjoying what I do a bit more than I did in the past just knowing I don't have to put in a yard and all that entails again.
Rick drove the seeder and I payed close attention to delivering more seed when he ran out with the Ranger, that wasn't so bad.
We had to lay bales of straw out every 30 feet, the rain was coming and we were more than ready for the straw blower to get out here.
Rick had the privilege of running the blower. Mike Nunnikhoven drove the tractor and had a football player throw the bales in and rip off the strings. I rode the ranger close to them with straw bales on it, ya know the bales weren't quite in the right places of course.Rick was so dusty at one point Mike asked him if he would see WITHOUT his glasses, they were a mess.
We enjoyed the golden hue our yard had for a very short time. God kept on sending rain and humidity which was perfect conditions for our yard.
The color is changing before our eyes, wow!
These deer were across the pond...they can tear up a yard in a big way while we sleep at night. With the ground staying so wet just walking across the yard made deep tracks. When the robin made this nest we figured it would get knocked down by the siding crew long ago. As of today the last baby flew out, to my knowledge they didn't even get stuck in the mud directly below. We didn't seed grass right next to the house due to the siding not being on yet.
I just took this picture today, you can see the color, this rain has been good for our yard.
As you can see in the corner we do have mud close to the house, it is VERY muddy!
Wow the grass is coming along well!!
