We are in the midst of a freezing rain storm. Myles fell over on his side twice just trying to go across the driveway this morning. The trees have been beautifull in white the last couple days, today they changed to ice. When the sun comes out they will glisten and we will once again see God in the beauty of it all. I would love to see that very soon!
Again life is cancelled in Pella, no school and many cancellations. I will say that this winter has given many of us time to reflect, time to spend with God and time to spend with people we don't usually take the time for, so it's all good. It goes to show who is in control and how important our schedules are...not.
We celebrate with the Pella families who joined with their adoptive children at the Pella airport last evening. One couple went to Haiti to expidite their own Haitian child and brought 4 more back with them, 2 going to 2 other homes in Pella. What an exciting time for them all as something so wonderful has happened from such a tragedy.
Jerod and Stacey Nikkel, the couple who left this summer with their 2 children for Haiti, are sending their 2 children home with her parents this week. It is not safe for them right now. They feel very called to stay and work with the hospital now and thought it best to get the kids back to the states. At this time they are all safe. Please pray for them!
God is at work during these hard times and good things keep on happening. Praise God for it all!
God gave me this passage this morning. It's been difficult for me to slow down enough to listen to God lately so I do want to share this:
Isaiah 55:10-11 (NLT) 10 “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. 11 It is the same with My word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
In some mysterious way the snow and rain produces plants and useful crops for the purpose of supplying people's needs ~ the divine purpose in this is applied figuratively to the Word of God, to distinquish it from human thoughts and plans that can cause criticle mistakes.
With all that is on the news lately, we better tighten our seat belts because the world is taking us for a very scarry roller coaster ride on our journey we call life. The only way not to fall off and crash is to stay in the Word and live very closely to our Savior.
